Jay is the Founder of Addition Capital, where he acquires businesses that have unrealised potential for growth.
Addition’s portfolio includes Academy+, an online leader in micro-accredited training courses for businesses and consumers; Littlewood Group, the UK’s largest specialist supplier of barriers for large infrastructure projects; and Future Motors, a supplier of energy-efficient motors for commercial heating/air-conditioning systems which reduce energy consumption by >50%.
Jay has been an “entrepreneur through acquisition” for over 10 years. His first business was ISE Inc, a supplier of ergonomic office furniture based in Toronto, Canada. Jay purchased ISE in 2012 and became CEO, selling the business to Workrite Ergonomics in 2016.
Born in Nairobi, he grew up in Toronto and completed his undergraduate degree in Law at Cambridge University. In 2011, he received an MBA at Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar. Jay began his career as a corporate lawyer with Linklaters in London, Moscow and Shanghai.
Jay lives in London and is married to Nadira Lalji. They are the proud parents of two young boys – Ayan (2020) and Ayden (2024).
